Hi amo28,

You can work and get the same recognition that a US nurse may get. But in order to work in the US, you will have to meet certain requirements. This includes successfully completing the NCLEX-RN Examination which is the licensure examination and meeting the required level in the English proficiency test like the IELTS exam.

Your diploma will be recognized and if your nursing transcript meets the requirements stipulated by the NCSBN which conducts the NCLEX-RN exam. Following this you will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam.

I would suggest that you prepare well for this exam and avail all available help to be successful.
Please go through the following link. I am sure it will be very informative. www.gs3india.com

I wish you all success.

You are very correct in saying that getting back into nursing at in Canada is a bit complicated especially with the Canadian nationalized health care system;. Iit would be much more simpler to begin working in the US.
However, in order to do this, the nurses must undergo a Ffederal screening program to ensure that their education and licensure can measure up to that of a U.S. educated nurse.nurse. This includinges showing evidence of English proficiency - both written and oralspoken. In addition to having passed the NCLEX-RN licensing exam of the particular state certain states require the successful completion of CGFNS.
Nevertheless one can endorse the license to other states in the US and . only upon Only on acquiring licensingacquiring licensing at the particular state can one begin practicing as a Nurse.

The following site provides a lot of vital information.
